Starting a blog was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. Being an introvert, I had so many doubts and I was a bit confused. Luckily, there was one thing I was sure about – my niche. I’ve always been passionate about traveling so it was quite easy to start writing about my trips. Making this step might seem scary but here is how to start a blog and how to make money with a blog for beginners.
Now, I know that you are probably asking yourself…
But who is going to read me?
Believe me, I’ve been there. And you know what?
People will find you and you’ll start slowly growing your audience.
After all, you are here reading this article.
I still remember how excited I was after I had received my first comment. At that point, I thought that the only readers I have are my mom and my sister.
That actually motivated me so I started to write more and more, and I suddenly found myself riding on the wave.
Constantly reading about blogging and writing about traveling helped me become an expert and I started to receive queries about guest posts, press trips, and product reviews.
And that was the time I had my “aha” moment.
I can actually earn money from blogging.
Since then, I’ve worked with official travel boards and travel agencies as well as numerous hotels. I go on press trips, I receive complimentary stays in boutique hotels and I do awesome activities (like a 3-day road trip and camping in Sahara) for FREE.
My point is, if I can, you can too!
Why should you start blogging today?
Because you’ll have the chance to build a successful business and earn 3 times more money than you did at your office job while working from a beautiful villa somewhere in the Philipines.
Not a bad plan, right?!
Starting a blog will also bring so many new possibilities. You’ll learn new things, your thoughts will have a positive impact on others and you’ll definitely meet interesting people.
So where to start?
First things first – define your niche. Find something you are passionate about, something you love, something you feel comfortable to write about.
If you need any advice on that, you can always refer to your blogging community on Facebook.
Next, you need to pick a cool name that sticks well with the topic you want to write about. Once you have a name, you’ll need a domain and a hosting plan to set up your blog.
There is a variety of companies that offer hosting services but I’d stick to HostGator and SiteGround. They offer top speed and great support and their packages start at only about $3 per month. Both offer a free SSL certificate as well.
